ABOUT THE DEPARTMENT
The Department of Mechanical Engineering was established in 1998 and currently functions with Intake of 120 Students . Our Prestigious Alumni are working in Southern Railways, BHEL-Trichy Seshasayee Paper and Boards Limited (SPB), Tamil Nadu Newsprint & Paper Limited (TNPL), Tamil Nadu State Transport Corporation Ltd (TNSTC), Tamil Nadu Electricity Board (TNEB), Abroad and various MNCs. The department has well equipped infrastructure facilities in Special Machines Lab, Lathe Shop, Workshop Practice Lab, Thermal Lab, Pneumatics & Hydraulics Lab, Automobile Lab, Electric-vehicle Lab and CAD/CAM & CNC Centre. All these laboratories are established as per Engineering Standards with well Experienced Instructors & Technical Assistants. The department organizes various academic, co-curricular, and extracurricular activities to enhance the skill of students and staff, helping them to meet global trends and industrial challenges. It also provides 100% placement assurance.
The department has signed Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with various industries to acquire the experience of the experts from the industries for the benefits of students and staff members.
The mechanical engineering programme is mostly chosen by the students, nearly 90% of students are employed with leading industries and remaining 10% of students have become entrepreneurs.

Lathe Shop
The Lathe Section is equipped with various types of lathes such as All Geared Lathe, Turret Lathe, Capstan Lathe, Cone Pulley Lathe and training is provided to students in a professional manner to enhance their practical knowledge and machining skills.

Special Machines Lab
The laboratory is equipped with advanced production machines to enhance student’s practical knowledge and machining skills. It provides hands-on experience in various machining operations such as shaping, milling, grinding, and drilling, preparing students for industrial applications.


Work Shop Practice Lab
Work Shop Practice Lab has three divisions exercise such as Foundry, Welding and Smithy and training is provided to students in a professional manner to enhance their practical knowledge and skills.


Fluid Mechanics and Machinery Lab
Our Fluid Mechanics and Fluid Machinery lab is well equipped with Bernoulli’s Theorem Verification Apparatus, Orifice Meter Apparatus, Venturi Meter Apparatus, Orifice and Mouth Piece Apparatus, Pipe Friction Apparatus, Centrifugal Pump, Reciprocating Pump, Jet Pump Test Rig, Pelton Wheel, Pneumatic and Hydraulic Kit.


Thermal Engineering Lab
Thermal Laboratory is equipped to meet the basic requirements of the students. It has Engine Cut Sections, Air Compressor Test Rig, I.C. Engine Test Rig, Morse Test Rig, Visco Meter, Flash and Fire Point Equipments, Bomb Calorimeter which imparts the knowledge about performance, characteristics of Diesel and Petrol Engines.

Automobile Lab
We have well equipped Automobile Lab with various types of I.C. Engines Cut Section, different types of Gear Box, Propeller Shaft Assembly, Differential, Brake Drum etc. These are demonstrated to the students to improve their knowledge in this field.

Metrology & Machine Tool Maintenance
Our department has well equipped Metrology Lab to make the various measurements. Modern types of instruments are introduced to improve the knowledge of the students. The following metrology equipments are available: Vernier Height Gauge, Digital Vernier Caliper, Micrometer, Depth Gauge, Digital Micrometer, Sine Bar, Bevel Protractor, Slip Gauges, Mechanical Comparator and Pneumatic Comparator etc.
Mechanics of Materials Lab
Mechanics of Material lab is well equipped with Universal Testing Machine, Impact Testing Machine, Hardness Testing Machine, Spring Testing Machine, Torsion Testing Machine and Shear Testing Machine.

CAD/CAM & CNC Centre
Computer Aided Design & Manufacturing Lab have more than 50 numbers of systems for designing the machine component and simulating the programs for our requirement. Practice on CAD commands for 3D drawings, practiced on Solid Rendering, produce parts in CNC Lathe and Milling Machine.

ACTIVITIES 2025-2026
CARRIER GUIDENCE PROGRAMME :
Our College Conducted a one-day Carrier Guidence Program about Vaccancies avialability in TNPSC and about Loan Availability Self Entrepherurship. Mrs. T.D. SANTHI of District Employment Officer and K. NARENDRA KUMAR of young Professionals Wing, Erode were the chief guest on 1st July 2025. Our 2nd and 3rd year student’s were gathered knowledge about availability of opportunities for polytechnic students and clarified their doubts.

Our College Coducted a one-day Carrier Guidence Program on 24th July 2025. Mr.M.Rajendran of TANGEDCO Erode was the chief guest. Our 1st year students were understood opportunities in TNEB.

FACULTY DEVELOPMENT PROGRAM :
Mr. C. Premkumar, Lecturer of Mechanical Engineering Department was attended Six Days FDP in the title of “Additive Manufacturing” organized by Directorate of Technical Education in association with Naan Muthalvan Scheme on 30th June 2025 to 05th July 2025 at PSG Polytechnic College, Coimbatore.

Our Department 2 Staffs were attended NPTEL in the academic year of 2025-2026. Mr. V.Kumaresan and Mr. N.Sivaprakasu, Lecturer of Mechanical Engineering had completed NPTEL in “Product Design and Development”.


Our staff Mr. S.Sundaram attended – Faculty Development Program on “CNC Milling” under NAAN MUDHALVAN PROGRAM at DMW CNC Solutions India Private Limited from 15-12-2025 to 20-12-2025.

Our department staff member Mr. V. Kumaresan attended one week online FDP on the title of “Advance Thermal Technologies for Sustainable Future” from 5th – 9th January 2026 conducted by K.L.N. College of Engineering, Pottapalayam.
Our staff Mr. Sivaprakasu N attended Two Days National level conference on 5& 6 of Febuary, 2026 “Ghost manufacturing and digital supply chain: catalying smart industrial transformation for viksit bharat 2047” conductedby Dr. N.G.P. Institute of Technology, Coimbatore.
ACADEMIC SEMINAR :
- Our department conduceted a academic seminar on 11th February 2026 in the Topic of “Metrology and Measurements”. Coducted by Mr. S. Muruganantham M.E., assitant professor of Nandha Engineering College, Erode. In this program students learnt about Need of Metrology in Industrial and as well as day to-day life.

- Our department conducted academic seminar in the title of “Advanced Software Skills”. In this seminar addressed by Mr. M. Kumaresan, Business Head, C Cube Technologies, Erode on 1st July 2025. 83 students were participated and understood about the need of Advanced softwares and Tools in Mechanical field.

INDUSTRIAL SEMINAR :
Department of Mechanical and Petrochemical jointly organized one-day Industrial seminar on title of “Briefly About Non Destructive Testing Oil And Gas Construction Fields”. Mr.C. Vigneshwaran, Director, Advanced Quality Centre, Coimbatore was the chief guest and gave special address and shared about the job opportuities availability in future.

GUEST LECTURER :
Department of Mechanical Engineering conducted one day Guest Lecturer conducted on topic of “Employability Skill Enhancement Technique” by Mr. P.Meganathan M.E., Technical Trainer of G Plast Pvt. Ltd., Coimbatore. In this program he taught what kind of skills need to be updated for future industrial people.

ASSOCIATION INAUGURAL PROGRAM :
The association inaugural function was organized on 20th August 2025. Mr.Monishkumar Jagannathan., Head R&D Mechanical in OZOTEC Automobile Pvt. Ltd., Coimbatore gave a special guest address. Discussed about future scopes of E Vechiles.

Key points discussed about Job opportuities avialable for Mechanical Engineering in Electrical Vechiles as a Design Engineer. Research about battery life, battery production and waste management of batteries.
CLUB ACTIVITIES :
Our department installed the Leo Club in our college and conducted the Blood Donation Camp on 22nd Auguest 2025. In that program Lion V.Gopinath MJF, District Leo Coordinator and Dr.K.Nagarajan, Ex. President, Erode Midtown Lions Club was participated as a chief guest and introduced the new office bearers and advised about Social responsibilities of students. On that day 17 students were donated their blood.

Our College and LEO Club Erode Midtown jointly organized a One Day Awareness program titled “Passengers Rail Safety “on 11th September 2025 with Railway Protection force of selam Division. In this Program our college Students of 500 members awarned and learnt safety precations in their Rail Travelling.

Our Leo Club students and Erode Mid Town Leo Club jointly organized a Palm tree plantation camp at Palavarayan nagar, Thirupur on 8th October 2025. In this program our students eagarly particicpated and planted more than 1500 palm seeds on that occasion.

Our Leo Club students and Erode Mid Town Leo Club jointly organized a Tree plantation camp at our College premisses, on 5th December 2025. In this program our students eagarly particicpated and planted more than 100 plants on that occasion. On that day Lion.V.Gopinath MJF participated as a chief guest.

- Our Department were conducted “Alumni Interaction-II”. This interaction was addressed by A.S.NAREN (2024 Passed out), Trainee, Hyundai Motors,Chennai on 10th September 2025. Students from 2nd and 3rd year interacted about current trends in industrial environment and expectations of companies.

Our Department were conducted “Alumni Interaction-III”. This interaction was addressed by Mr.V.KIHORE (2025 Passed out), Operation Engineer., Adithya Birla Paints, Kanjipuram on 30/12/2025.

STUDENTS PARTICIPATION :
Our Students Selvan. Sivaramakrishnan.S and and Kabish.S of III Year Mechaniacal Engineering were presented their papers in National Level Technical Symposium titled of “Integration of AI and IoT in Predictive Maintenance of Mechanical System” held at Sankara Polytechnic College, Coimbatore on 22nd Auguest 2025.

Our Student Selvan. Sudeep of II Year MECH and Team were got winner position in IPPA divisional level Handball match held at Nandha Polytechnic College on 10th September 2025.

Our Students were participated Paper Presentation and Project Expo conducted at KSR POLY FEST 2025 on 30-12-2025.

Our department studnts presented their papers on various topics conducted by State Level Technical Symbosium TECH BLITZ 2K26 by Shree Vegadeshwara Polytechnic College, Gobi on 30-01-2026.

PRIZE WINNERS :
Our students excipited their project at Chennimalai Car Festivel from 01-02-2026 to 06-02-2026 at Chennimalai and Got 3rd Prize.
Our department students six members participated in project expo and got 3rd prize at sakthi polytechnic college, appakudal on 27-02-2026.

PLACEMENT TRAINING :
Our Department were conducted Placement Training activity from 18th Auguest 2025 to 26th Auguest 2025. This training was conducted for all 3rd year students. Various group activities and ice breaking events were conducted. Skill ability, Aptitude Test.

PARENT’S MEETING :
Our department conducted Parents Meeting on 31-01-2026 for students developent and as well as what are all need to improve in ourside. Many of the parents were participated and consulted about student’s welfare.

Mechanical engineering Department were conducted “Parents Meeting” for all II and III Year students on 12th September 2025. 89 parents were participated and discussed about academics and behaviour’s of students.
INNOVATION DAY 15th EDITION :
Our college Initates the Innovation of young minds through this event. On 05 & 06 Febuary 2026 we have conducted the 15TH Edition of Innovation day. Our deparrtment students introduced their Thoughts to this socity.

INDUSTIAL VISIT :
Our department students with faculty members were visited “ANNA ALUMMIUM PVT.LTD., ERNAKULAM, KERALA” on 29th Auguest 2025. In this our department students of 85 members along with 7 staff members visited the industry exposure.

STUDENTS EXCURSION :
- Our department Final year students along with two members went to Kerala Ernakulam Wonderla in their final enthusious journey of their academic on 18-03-2026.

ANNUAL DAY CELEBRATION :
We celebrated The Annual Day on 23-01-2026. Mr. Rajesh HR, Montra Electric, Muruggappa Groups of Companies, Chennai.The Chief Guest shared his industrial experience and knowledge required forfuture engineers.
